One Qwest Master to make it. One shared link to launch it. One Qwest to build the whole team.

CaperQwest is an online treasure hunt designer for corporate team building: an indoor or outdoor scavenger hunt your own people build, for teams in the workplace. One person from the team becomes the Qwest Master and designs the Qwest; everyone else splits up into Sqwads and competes to complete the Qwest route. Each Sqwad uses one phone to open a web browser and go to the Qwest web link. No email sign-up, no bulky app installs and no downloads.

No bulky downloads, usually no IT ticketRuns in the browser on any phone. No app store install, no device permissions, nothing for IT to approve.
No email sign-up for playersOnly your Qwest Master gets login details. Corporate information stays separate and private.

Why a colleague should be your Qwest Master

Most corporate team building activities, from agency-run scavenger hunts to escape rooms and away-day facilitators, send a stranger to run your afternoon. We hand the map to a colleague instead.

Who knows your teams better than one of their own?Your Qwest Master knows the in-jokes, the rivalries, who sits where and what your people will actually find fun. No briefing call can replace that.
It keeps the cost down for you and for usNo facilitator day-rate, no travel, no per-head fee. You pay per Sqwad, and we spend our time improving the platform rather than running your Qwests.
No external visitors on the dayNobody from outside your company needs a visitor pass, a desk or access to your people. The whole event stays in-house.
Your Qwest Masters learn to design gamesDesigning a hunt is a real skill: sequencing, pacing, difficulty, storytelling. Your people build it and keep that skill long after the trophy is handed out.
Pick on the quieter one.

Being Qwest Master hands the colleague who usually listens a reason to speak: to lead the briefing, explain the rules, guide every Sqwad, and deal with whatever comes up on the day. A Qwest is designed in advance and with care, so it rewards observation and planning over volume, and it asks the designer to think many steps ahead of the players. That is a habit worth building. Much of corporate life now runs on crisis management rather than planning; this is a rare, low-stakes chance to practise forethought instead: planning for what happens later, before it happens. And when the hunt is running, a Qwest Master who makes room for six loud Sqwads tends to get more out of them than one who competes for the spotlight. The research on quieter leaders points the same way: when the people being led speak up with ideas, less extraverted leaders tend to get more out of them (Grant, Gino & Hofmann, 2011).

  1. Qwest Master

    Onboard in minutes

A brief onboarding with a short training video shows your Qwest Master how to use the control room to design routes and stops. Their account stays active for a month from activation.

  2. Qwest Master

    Share one link

Your people split into Sqwads. Each Sqwad scans a QR code or taps the link on one of their own phones. No player accounts and no app store visit.

  3. Everyone

    Play, then export the insights

Sqwads race a live leaderboard while the Qwest Master watches from the control room, messages every Sqwad when needed, then exports the results and insights to a PDF.

Design your own routes

Design your own route, stops and clues

Design your own route in the control room, indoors or outdoors, and add stops wherever you like: across the city, around the park, or entirely inside your building. At each stop, choose the kind of clue that suits the spot:

Photo clues QR code clues Text clues

At a photo stop, the Sqwad takes the picture on their phone and submits it. It goes straight to the control room, where the Qwest Master sees it appear, approves it or sends it back, and the Sqwad's points update live.

Make it relevant to your team. A team based in London already knows the Tower, the Eye and Big Ben, so design something more bespoke and lesser known: the alley behind the office, the pub with the odd sign, the plaque nobody has read.

Just moved into a new office?

There is no better way to get your team to know the lay of the land than a Qwest through it. Hide clues in the new meeting rooms, the good coffee place and the fire exit nobody can find, and by the end of the afternoon everyone knows the building, and the neighbourhood, by heart.

The real treasure

The science: building a game teaches more than playing one

Team building activities are often bought on gut feel. The research on games, learning and teams points the same way: the people who design the game get the most out of it.

Large effectof learning through games

Across 193 randomised or quasi-randomised trials, learning through games had a large positive effect on outcomes, and gamified activities a medium one.

Xu & Dai, Active Learning in Higher Education (2026), three-level meta-analysis of 1,029 effect sizes.
Motivationautonomy, relatedness

Gamification reliably raises intrinsic motivation and people's sense of autonomy and connection to others, even where it does little for raw competence.

Li, Hew & Du, Educational Technology Research and Development (2024), meta-analysis and systematic review.
Big liftin ideas from walking

Walking produces a large lift in divergent thinking, the kind that generates new ideas, and it works just as well indoors as outdoors.

Thabane et al., PLOS One (2026), systematic review and meta-analysis of 23 studies, 1,036 participants.
Play workson real teams

In a randomised trial with working teams, playful, hands-on team sessions raised team cohesion and psychological safety more than standard facilitated team building.

Passmore, Tee & Gold, Journal of Work-Applied Management (2025), randomised controlled trial.
$438bnlost in 2024

Global engagement slipped to 21% in 2024; Gallup puts the productivity cost at US$438 billion. Engaged teams stay longer.

Gallup, State of the Global Workplace: 2025 Report (reporting 2024 data).
Safetyto speak up

Psychological safety, the shared sense that it is fine to speak up and take risks, is consistently linked to team learning and performance, and leaders who make room for other voices build it.

CIPD, Psychological safety: an evidence review (2024).

In plain English: these are big, recent studies, but most of them looked at students rather than offices, and walking helps people come up with ideas rather than choose between them. We think that is good reason to build on, not a promise.

What is out there, and why we built CaperQwest

The research points to three things: let your own people design the game, get everyone moving, and make it safe to speak up. We measured what the market offers against those, and against the practical questions a buyer asks: does it need an app, a host, or a price per head?

Beta pricing: £200 a Qwest.

CaperQwest is still in its beta version, and we're looking for companies planning a team building activity, away day or team social to trial it at a cheaper rate. One price covers unlimited Sqwads, and we never count heads: one phone per Sqwad, with as many colleagues in each as you like. We recommend up to five people per Sqwad, since that is about as many as can comfortably crowd round one phone, but there is no hard limit.

A Qwest Master account lasts for a month from activation. In that month your Qwest Master can create as many Qwests as they want, for as many Sqwads as they want. If you would like more Qwest Masters for different divisions or different teams within the same company, just let us know.

Who we're looking for right now: London corporates in sectors whose day jobs are not always synonymous with creativity, and who want to encourage it: finance, investment, law, accountancy, insurance, consulting. Anywhere in the UK works too. We're all London-based, and we're looking to expand beyond it next.

£200per Qwest: one hunt, unlimited Sqwads, unlimited people
  • Unlimited Sqwads, one phone per Sqwad, never priced per head
  • One Qwest Master login, active for a month from activation, with onboarding and a short training video

  • Control room to design routes and stops, message every Sqwad, then watch the hunt live
